The Buen Retiro Park

Picturesque park Buen Retiro, situated in the center of Madrid, is a popular holiday destination among residents.

The territory of the park is 120 hectares. This large area is not only full of beautiful greenery. Here you can see a lot of sculptures, fountains, buildings 17-19 century, quiet lake, alleys, surrounded by strawberry trees.

In old buildings Buen Retiro, which were once part of the palace of the same name, now there are two museum - Army Museum in Spain and a branch of the Prado Museum.

In the middle of the park above the lake stands the famous equestrian statue of Alfonso XII, surrounded by a colonnade. Majestic monument is decorated with four allegorical sculptures - the homeland, the Army, Navy and the world.

In Retiro is the only monument in the world to the devil, called "Fallen Angel." Sculpture dedicated to Lucifer's expulsion from paradise.
