Gothic Quarter in Barcelona
The Gothic Quarter is located in Barcelona, in the heart of Old Town. The name comes from the Barri Gotic old medieval buildings surviving in this territory. Most of the buildings date from the 14th and 15th centuries, there is also a Roman structure.
Central point of the quarter is the Hagia Eulalia - patroness of the city. Another feature - the famous historical area of the King (not to be confused with the Royal area). Mazes of narrow streets, filled the atmosphere of the Middle Ages and privileges of modern life. Everywhere there are shops and museums.
In the quarter is Barcelona City Hall and the Palace of the Government of Catalonia, built in the 15th century. Gothic buildings complement the decor monuments and statues, ancient chapel, Orange patio and much more. This is a short list of attractions that deserve special attention.
No other city in Europe can boast of so many medieval buildings such as Barcelona, in particular, its Gothic Quarter. Therefore, every year among tourists is increasing interest in these historical places.
