Alhambra

Alhambra - it's incredibly ambitious and beautiful architectural ensemble in the Spanish city of Granada in the southern part of the country. This unique complex of old Islamic architecture was built during the reign of the Nasrid dynasty. When the city was the capital of the Emirate of Granada, Alhambra served luxurious royal residence, its main buildings were erected in the 14th century.
Nowadays, the palace complex is a famous museum of Islamic medieval architecture, which includes towers, mosques, gardens, houses and baths and even a cemetery.
Alhambra is a vast complex of courtyards with gardens, different transitions, fountains and ponds, which are combined with a variety of ornamental arches, columns, carved windows, decorated with ornaments and Arabic script. Each is surrounded by arcaded courtyard, behind which hides luxurious interior rooms - rooms for the reception and bedrooms. Interesting names patios. There is a "Lion Yard" with a fountain around which there are twelve stone lions. Hall of the two sisters was named because of two huge slabs of white marble, built into the floor. The architectural ensemble of the palace complex is decorated with blooming flower beds, mazes of bushes and orange trees, and near the northern part of the Alhambra grow fabulous gardens  of the Generalife.
Alhambra consists of four main parts - a military fortification Alcazaba, the Nasrid Palace, the Summer Palace and the Generalife Palace of Charles V. Each of these structures is a valuable historical monument, known for its luxury, beauty and rich history.
In 1984, the Alhambra was included in the list of World Heritage Sites.
